The Signature Place By Naked Plates
Like every other product out in the market place, there are many different versions of the wedding signature platter or plate. Some platters are better then others. Below is a list of the three must common ways a design is applied to a platter. Use this list to help you choose the correct platter for your wedding day.
The three most common ways a design is applied to a wedding signature platter is hand painted with a kiln fired on paint, hand painted with a baked on low fire glass paint marker, and pressed on with a decal. Each method has its advantages and disadvantages.
- A decal design is usually the cheapest design method. The design has been created in a computer and printed off. The color is set in the design. What you see is what you get. If you are looking to personalize the platter to your wedding colors or theme a decaled wedding signature platters is not the best choice. A decal can also scratch off over time. Most decal platters do not allow for the wedding couple's names and date to be added. These platters are most often massed produced and sold in many different retail stores.
- A hand painted baked on with low fire glass paint marker design offers the chance for a one of a kind creation. These platters are made to fit the wants of the wedding couple. Colors and themes can be added to the design. Personalization with the wedding couple's names and date can be added. These platters generally cost more then a decaled wedding signature platter. The design is usually drawn on with a glass paint pen and can leave your design looking like a doodle with an unfinished marker look. Some paint markers are toxic creating a not food safe wedding signature platter.
- A hand painted with kiln fired paint design offers all the advantages of the low fire paint pen design plus more. These wedding signature platters are created with an under glaze paint. Some companies offer more then 50 colors for your design. The designs are painted on with a paint brush creating a finished looked. These wedding signature platters go through an additional step the decaled and paint pen platters do not. A kiln fired platter is painted, then dipped in a glaze, and finally fired at over 1800 degrees. This glaze firing over the painted design insures the design will never scratch off and adds a smooth finished look to the platter. These signature platters are food safe and non toxic.
